Our first winter in Georgia is coming to an end, and also in this season, our new home is a magnificent place to visit. We’ve given the ski resorts here a go and even kicked off the camping season in early February.

What’s magical about Georgia is its array of different climate zones, heavily influenced by the altitude. One day, our kids might be playing in a creek and the next day, we’re heading up a bit higher for some sledding or skiing.

A warm welcome to everyone looking to experience Georgia in the spring. A few days of skiing and the breathtaking panoramas of the snowy Greater Caucasus can be perfectly paired with a 4×4 journey through the lower regions!

We’re looking forward to welcoming our first guests of the year soon.

Best wishes, Andreas and Sveta

Skiing in Georgia

Anyone looking to combine a Caucasus journey with a few delightful days of skiing in February or March has come to the right country. The ski lifts and slopes we’ve visited in Georgia are just as modern as those in the Alps, with the value for money often being even better.

Last vacant 4x4 camper for our Transcaucasus Tour 2024

In July, there’s still a chance to drive from Georgia to Dagestan by UAZ off-road camper, experiencing the entire Caucasus on this route. Like all our tours, also the Transcaucasus Tour is set up as a 4×4 self-drive adventure, with only the border crossing planned as a group activity.

Is it worth to visit Tbilisi?

In the summer, when concrete and asphalt heat up, the big city can be exhausting. However, it’s a different story in spring or autumn, when we often recommend our guests extend their stay by a day or two to explore the capital city. (But then, it’s best to use the subway and bus, not a UAZ 😉

Travel & Visa

The Georgian Military Highway (main connection between Russia and Georgia) is sometimes temporarily closed after heavy snowfall. For current information, you can check this Telegram group (in Russian). Construction work at this border is now almost complete, and the number of counters, especially on the Russian side, has been significantly increased.

The easiest way to travel to Georgia is by flying into the capital, Tbilisi (airport code “TBS”). No visa is needed.

To Dagestan (airport “MCX”)  flyredwings and pobeda flies regularly from Istanbul. Most nationalities can apply for your Russia visa (up to 16 days) online.
Longer Russia tourist visa are of course still available in your home country.
