With great joy in these challenging times, we have finally received a new booking. What makes us especially happy is that our youngest guest (15 years old) and our oldest guest (80 years old) have confirmed their trips to Dagestan this year. Svetlana is currently on summer vacation with Olivia and Felix at their grandparents’ place. On the way there, they visited friends and acquaintances, and it turned into a serious road trip of 2,200 kilometres. They are travelling by UAZ 4×4 Camper – of course.
It saddens us to think that the bloody conflict in Ukraine may continue for years to come. Even though our work for international exchange is just a drop in the bucket, it is a way for us to build a bridge. Despite all the disagreements in this complicated situation, we will continue to need bridges between peoples today and in the future, as well as people willing to cross them.
Travellers from Germany who are currently in other parts of Russia have reported the same as our guests here in Dagestan: On a personal level, nothing has changed. Visitors are still welcomed with hospitality and open hearts, regardless of their passports.
Warm regards,
Andreas and Svetlana

Our guests: Maria and Roland from Austria
Among the countless pleasant encounters they’ve had here in Dagestan, one will stand out in their memories: the spontaneous party organized by their new acquaintances from the burning spring. What made it particularly amusing was that the wife joined later and immediately apologized, claiming that her husband was not adequately qualified to host such exceptional guests.

Dagestan in September & October
Nadine and Lars had visited us last year, and finally, the two found time to sort their Dagestan photos and upload the most beautiful ones to the internet. Successful shots and lovely impressions of what Dagestan looks like in the autumn can be admired here: @john_der_jeep

A visit from Chechnya
Abdullah Bokov (left) from Grozny, who is currently travelling in Dagestan with his guest Beat from Switzerland, paid us a visit. Abdullah is a sought-after Caucasus tour guide, but the current situation is hitting him hard, as he also specializes in international visitors. We keep our fingers crossed that he will receive more guests this year.
