“Definitely come!” In unison, Vera and Richard from Germany responded. After spending two weeks in Dagestan, I had asked them what advice they would give to potential visitors.

This week, Andrea and Werner from Austria and Switzerland have arrived to explore the most beautiful places in Dagestan and get to know the land and its people. At least in this way, we can support our Dagestani friends and partners who advocate for peaceful coexistence and a swift end to the violence.

The fact is, you can experience and safely travel in Dagestan in 2022 just as beautifully as in previous years. The people here, with their warmth and hospitality, have not changed one bit (as Richard found out when he insisted on paying the bill but was instead invited to the restaurant). Entry and exit procedures are the same as before, and everything goes smoothly for tourists, regardless of the passport you hold.

Political decisions have completely driven the situation into a corner and will remain difficult for the coming years. However, on a human level, international visitors are still warmly welcomed, just as before. We are in contact with travellers who are exploring other parts of Russia and are having similar experiences.

Kind regards,

Andreas and Svetlana
