We are stunned and deeply saddened to see so much human suffering in Ukraine.
Our efforts to promote understanding between different peoples and cultures, between East and West in the context of a great holiday, has now become much more difficult. The feedback from many of our guests, that they still want to come if the situation allows, gives us hope. The fact that you still want to get to know Dagestan and its inhabitants personally provides us with the strength to stay here and continue our work.
“People are hard to hate up close. “
Again and again, we experience how fears and prejudices melt away when people meet personally and find common ground. Our friends here in Dagestan will do our utmost to continue promoting hospitality and international friendship, away from political decisions.
For our company and us, that means:
1)
We will donate 10% of our income in 2022 directly to the aid project of the German SOS Children’s Village in Ukraine.
To support the children, who already had a tough start in life anyway and and who bear zero responsibility for this conflict.
More info here: https://www.sos-kinderdoerfer.de/informieren/hilfsprojekte/ukraine-krieg-kinder-spenden2)
We have already selected our partners here in Dagestan carefully and we will continue to only work with people, accomodations, guides etc… who believe in peaceful co-existence.
3)
All guests who have booked trips with us will continue to receive information (in addition to the monthly newsletter) on what current and future developments mean for planned visits to Dagestan.
If you would like to receive these more frequent travel updates (in German), please send a short email
All the best in these sad times and greetings from Dagestan

Travel restrictions & visas (status 04.03.22)
Travel to and from Dagestan
Our airport in Makhachkala (MCX) operates as usual, handling domestic flights and international flights.
Whether there will be direct flights from Europe to Moscow in the next few months is not clear.
Entry with a stopover via Turkey is still possible. These flight connections have already expanded their capacity over the last few days.
In Dagestan, we are also very easy to reach via Istanbul; last year, some of our guests travelled there and back via this route.
Every Monday, Thursday and Saturday there is a direct flight from Istanbul (SAW) to Makhachkala (MCX) and back to Istanbul (SAW) in the early morning hours.
Since these flights are operated by the Turkish airline Pegasus, we do not expect any restrictions on these connections at the moment.
Tourist visas and entry to Russia
Applications for tourist visas are still being accepted, and visas are also being issued.
The entry and exit of guests from abroad proceeds as usual. To our knowledge, there are no changes.
More pictures
We decided not to add any additional pictures to this newsletter.
We will share the beautiful impressions of our Dagestan trip in February, of frozen waterfalls and snow-capped mountain peaks, with you at a later time.
