August in Dagestan is wonderful, we hope you and your loved ones are also enjoying the warm time of the year. We are trying out a fresh format for our newsletter this month so please let us know how you like it.
All the best,
Andreas and Svetlana
Our Guests
It was our pleasure to welcome our guests Konstantin and Nastya and send them on a great vacation around Dagestan. (Luckily, they were already living in Russia, so no visa was needed)
Click above for a little video from them during off-road driving training which we did together at the start, navigating rocky mountain slopes and getting unstuck from the sandy beach.
Safety is paramount for us. Therefore on the first day, we properly introduce all our guests to the car and the various terrain you might encounter on your way to some of the best spots in Dagestan. Ultimately, we are offering OFFROAD campers and actively encourage you to leave the beaten path and discover safely some of the wild and amazing places accessible only by a 4×4 vehicle
Impressions from Dagestan
We also used August to travel as a family and finally ticked one long term location off our list. We visited the village Kurush, which at 2560m is Europe’s highest inhabited village. This place is deeply embedded in the Caucasus mountains and marks the southernmost point in the Russian Federation. Click above to see the video from our journey to this amazing place and its surroundings.
Again, we were spoiled by amazing Dagestani hospitality, most remarkable was the night which we just spent on some field in the middle of nowhere. After sunset, suddenly, a small Lada appears. We shake hands, and the guy starts to unload glasses full of canned peaches from his car. “Take them, take them he insists and tells us the owner of this land sent him to make sure we have everything we might need.”
Travel restrictions & visa
The situation has remained mostly unchanged, unfortunately that means most Russian travel restrictions are still in place – only people with long term Russian visa / residency permits can visit the country at the moment. The only exception are the lucky residents of the UK who can already apply for tourist visa again and travel to Russia.
